Marvin Frey, born in 1993 in Germany is a trumpet player and educator currently based in Cologne, Germany. He received a fundamental musical education at the music highschool of Rhineland-Palatinate, located in Montabaur. Subsequently he studied jazz trumpet at the conservatory of Maastricht with Rob Bruynen (WDR Big Band) and Carlo Nardozza (BrusselsJazzOrchestra) and concluded his Bachelor Studies in 2017 with “cum laude”.
Currently he is in Master Studies at the Folkwang-Universität der Künste in Essen with Ryan Carniaux and Ansgar Striepens.
Besides playing in many different Big Bands Marvin was a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Germany (BuJazzO) under the direction of Jiggs Whigham and Niels Klein and is leading his own Band the “Marvin Frey Group”.
Apart from playing, teaching trumpet and music theory to other people takes a big part in Marvin Freys career since he is 16 years old.
He worked together with musicians as Till Brönner, Joshua Redman, Bert Joris, Nils Landgren, Jörg-Achim Keller, Ingolf Burkhardt, Ryan Truesdell, Brussels Jazz Orchestra and the WDR Big Band.
Marvin Frey has won multiple prizes in different German and internatioanl jazz competitions.
Concert tours already took him to Belgium, France, Switzerland, England, China, India, Bolivia, Equador and Nepal.
